Best Fully Vegan Restaurants in San Luis Obispo
I recently traveled through San Luis Obispo on my way up to Cambria, California. There are only 2 fully vegan restaurants in San Luis Obispo, Ebony Ethiopian Cuisine and Ziggy’s, and they were both amazing! They are both completely different from each other with Ebony offering Ethiopian cuisine and Ziggy’s is more American. Scroll down for more information on the two restaurants!
Ebony Ethiopian Cuisine
Address: 778 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (New Location – Opening March 14th)
Hours: Thursday, Friday 11:30-6:00 Saturday 12:30-6:00
Instagram: Ebony • Authentic Ethiopian Food (@ebony_slo) • Instagram photos and videos
Ebony specializes in vegan, gluten free, and organic Ethiopian food including injera, lentils, split peas, and veggies. The menu can change each week/day, but their Instagram posts their menu every day they are open!
The owner was incredibly nice and helped us choose what to get for our first time here. We ended up getting the Spicy Misir Wot (spiced red lentils), Denech Alicha (spiced potatoes and carrots), and injera which is a sour fermented pancake-like flatbread. Everything was very flavorful and amazing! I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the SLO area!
Ziggy’s
Address: 594 California Boulevard, San Luis Obispo, CA
Hours: Monday-Sunday 11:00am-9:00pm

Ziggy’s is a takeout restaurant with comfort foods including burgers, tacos, fries, and shakes. They also serve all day breakfast, tacos, salads, and desserts. They have two locations, one in SLO and one in Paso Robles. Everything is packaged to go in takeout bags, but they do have some seating inside and outside if you want to dine in. The workers were also super nice and engaging!
I got the Black Bean Taquitos, the special which was Buffalo Mac-and-Cheese with an Impossible chick’n patty coated in buffalo sauce on top, and the Cookies and Cream Shake! Everything was super delicious and is great if you want to grab a quick bite to eat!
There are other restaurants in SLO that offer vegan dishes, but I am just highlighting the places that are completely vegan!
